Start Point Explorer with BBC Radio Devon : Monday 19th September 2016       10am – 12.30

Join us for a mornings walk exploring this stunning and rugged part of the South Devon AONB. Find out more about the people who lived and worked  in the ruined village of South Hallsands before walking around the coast path to Start Point. We will look at how this wild and spectacular landscape has stories to tell, the ships which were wrecked here, the lighthouse families which lived here and the people who worked the land. We will look at how the area is now a haven for wildlife and hope to see some of today’s residents, the Grey Seals, around Peartree Point.

The walk is about 4 miles long (6.5 km) and involved some steep sections and coast path walking. Car parking is by donation. Please bring waterproofs and wear sturdy shoes or boots. There are no toilets along this route, the nearest public toilets are on the way into South Hallsands in Kingsbridge or nearby Beesands.
